Saracens Women v Harlequins – The Premiership Semi-Final

A 2.5 hour journey meant I missed the whole first half, as I ventured through the country roads of Hertfordshire! Harlequins took the lead with a try from Claudia Pena, the conversion was missed. Zoe Harrison converted a penalty on 5 minutes. Followed by Alysha Corrigan touching down on 7 minutes. Ellie Kildunne scored what I believe was a stunner for Quins on 15 minutes. With Jess Breach returning the favour for Saracens on 19 minutes. Saracens captain Marlie Packer got in on the action on 24 minutes. Harrison added the extras and the teams went in at half time with the scores on Saracens 20 Harlequins 12.

The second half started with a barrage from Saracens, but they didn’t manage to trouble the scoreboard. Kelsey Clifford looked to have touched down on 51 minutes, but after a consultation with the TMO the try was wiped off. Quins did score however through Lauren Torley. Saracens hit back and there was no room for doubt when Corrigan went over to score her second in the corner, some smart passing, but Jess Breach amongst others, helping to put her in. A Packer intercept saw her soaring up the pitch, May Campbell wasn’t far behind and she scored Saracens’ second try in 2 minutes. Harrison added the extras to take Saracens to 32. Quins had pushed Saracens hard in the second half and they scored again on 71 minutes, Springbok Women’s prop Babalwa Latsha got over from close to the line for Quins and Lagi Tuima added the extras. Gabby Senft was shown yellow after repeated offences by Saracens, they had to see out the last 7 minutes with 14 players. They held firm and the final score was Saracens 32 Harlequins 24. Quins successful season is now over and Saracens will contest the final at The STomex Stadium on March 16th.
